By life's incessant fury
I was cast from wave to wave.
Like a piece of golden amber
the sea became my grave.
Then came the day I loved you
and realized my frailty
- an entity diminished
by solidarity.
Now I stand in fear of losing
the strength I once had feigned
and wonder without ceasing
will this bring my life more pain?
Or will you fill my days
with all those things I've sought
and in your gentle caring way
erase the pain that I alone had fought?
Will you accept without regret
the things that cannot change?
